Music critics have described Paul Renz as “a remarkable guitarist and composer,” a creator of jazz that “knocks out listeners with subtle firepower hidden in a splendid vocabulary of feints and finesse.” A graduate of Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory, himself a student of jazz greats Herb Pomeroy and George Russell, Renz has recorded a half dozen CDs which have received critical acclaim and topped jazz charts. Renz is also a passionate and highly renowned teacher, offering private guitar and bass lessons as well as classes on theory and improvisation. Renz resides in Minneapolis, but offers online guitar lessons to students around the world.

Attention CANADIANS (especially in Ontario) I’ll be teaching jazz theory & improv at Blue Skies Music Festival this summer. July 29th - August 1st It’s their first music education offering - 4 days of music instruction prior to the festival. It’s a wonderful music gathering and I’m so pleased to be a part of it. blueskiesmusicfestival.ca My goal is to share as much information and guidance as possible in an easygoing, nurturing environment. I want to help each participant improve their playing ability and technical skills, and deepen their knowledge of music, regardless of where they’re starting from. And most importantly, to have fun throughout! All instruments welcome.
